Implement a Lead Generation System, Stage 2: Qualify Your Leads

Teaming Up with Your Customers, by Brian TracyIn Stage 1, in the previous post , we explored generating leads through multiple venues. Some of the leads generated through some of the suggested strategies are already “qualified” leads – or at least pre-qualified – as they shared their contact info on your opt-in page, where they basically said “I’m interested in what you are offering – I want to hear more.” (Here’s a link to  Part 1, if you missed it: http://myclientattractionacademy.com/blog/implement-a-lead-generation-system-part-1-12-ways-to-generate-qualified-coaching-client-prospects/)

Needless to say, not all of your leads will have the same value. Especially when you meet some of your leads face to face – such as, at Networking Events, people will give you their business card just for asking… which does not mean at all that they are interested in your offer/s (and you should definitely NOT add them to your mailing list without asking them first).

If you got your leads through networking, a teleclass, webinar, or any other means (did not opt in to your offer yet), qualify them by sending them an email or postcard thanking them for their participation in your presentation (or express how nice it was to meet them – whatever the means of collecting their contact data was) and let them know if they want to know more about “How to…? [insert your niche-specific irresistible offer here]”, they can sign up for your eCourse, audioCourse, TrainingVideo, etc. at www.myOffer.com .

Remember, the money – and the key to your success – is in your list. You want to develop a large list of individuals interested in what you have to offer. Most likely you’ll not end up coaching most of them, but even if you coach a small percentage of them, you are in business…. Besides, many of them might attend some of your free or paid teleclasses, webinars, or buy your books, eBooks, home-study courses, etc., all of which becomes an additional source of income for you and/or they’ll become part of Stage 3, “Nurture Your Leads,” which we’ll talk about in the next post.

If you are like most coaches, the #1 question on your mind probably is…

“How can I Attract More Coaching Clients?”

The Answer is in Your Lead Management Process

Effective Networking Strategies - 20-Point ChecklistIf it’s raining sell umbrellas; if it’s sunny, sell shades (and suntan lotion)… The same applies to coaching: find the person who badly needs a service because it’s “raining” in their life and offer them your “umbrella” – that is, your service.

Except…

a) How do I find that person with a major challenge, problem, or desire? And…
b) How can I connect with this person in a way that she’ll trust me with her hard earned dollars to help solve her problem; help with her challenge; or help her fulfill that strong desire?

Point a) is easy, right? Everybody has problems and desires… And while that’s true, most people do not actively seek a coach to solve their problems; nor are they willing to pay for those services even after they find out about such services. Especially not after only one meeting…

So, suddenly point b) above becomes a crucial point, “How can I connect with ‘this’ person in such a way to get hired as their coach?”

The answer is [again]  in your Lead Management Process
a) find qualified prospects – people who are actively seeking “umbrellas” (your service or product) and
b) who can afford and willing to buy your “umbrella” (your service)

That’s the basics of it, and while it sounds simple, most successful coaches – and sales people in general – have a system in place… or a process. In the sales world they call it…

What is “Lead Generation”?

The Lead Generation (or Lead Management) Process:

Here’s a simplified Lead Management Process you can use to attract your ideal clients, just like the pros do:
(All the suggestions below will produce weak results if you do NOT have a clear niche)

Stage1: How to Generate and Capture Leads
Stage2: How to Qualify Your Leads, and
Stage 3: How to Nurture Your Leads
Stage 4: How to Transform Your Leads into Prospects
Stage 5: How to Transform Your Prospects into Life-Long Customers

Stage 1: Generate and capture leads

“Leads” = are individuals who showed slight interest in your services (and/or products, if that’s what you try to sell).

We can generate leads through multiple venues (not in any particular order)

 

12 Lead Generation Strategies:

1) landing page or website with irresistible opt-in offer (the most effective lead genaration method IF your site has “decent” traffic – list your site in the search engines, optimize it properly, send traffic through social media, videos, articles, link exchanges, etc. – see below)

2) networking – collect business cards (jot down on back of each card what you talked about); make sure the back of your business card contains your irresistable offer that sends your prospect to your landing page

3) live workshops, keynotes, or other types of presentations (teleclasses, webinars, and live events) have the potential to produce the highest quality leads, as it gives people a chance to get to know you and like you AND, if you did a good job, they might already have a strong desire to want “more of you” in the form of a product or coaching.

At live events, give out a “cool” form to have everyone share their contact info so you can send them a copy of your PowerPoint and sign them up for the “7 Secrets to ….” eCourse (or whatever bonus you want to offer – the key being to ALWAYS capture your audience’s contact info). Hopefully you pre-qualified them by offering to send them your eCourse, newsletter, video course, etc. valued at $297.00 (always put a value on your offer; after all you put in some hard work to create it and it is a valuable give-away).

4) teleclasses and webinars – another super effective leads generation method, ESPECIALLY when you JV with others who have large lists of subscribers/followers.  Just like with live events, teleclasses and webinars also have the potential to generate the highest quality leads, especially if you present a series of these events or are part of your lead generation model (articles, videos, eZine, etc. – allowing the prospect to get to know you through different venues).

When speaking to audiences OTHER THAN the people on your list, make sure to always provide an irresistable offer, so the participants visit your landing page and share their contact info.

5) youTube (and other) videos, with a call to action at the end of the video, directing the viewer to your irresistible opt-in offer.  Always start the description of your video with your link to your landing page (or home page or blog that contains an opt-in form), e.g.: http://www.myClientAttractionAcademy.com/guided  - 12 of the most effective ways to generate leads and…” This way each video will have a linkback to your site, as well as hopefully many of the video viewers will click on the link and opt in to your offer/s.

6) social media “marketing” – post links to your articles, videos, audios, etc. and make sure to have a byline that positions you as the solution provider to your ideal clients problems AND has a link to your irresistible opt-in offer (such as, “E.G. Sebastian is a client-attraction specialist, helping solo professionals connect with their ideal clients. 7) your “circle of influence”
Everyone knows at least a hundred people, and they know about a hundred people… Contact your circle of influence in person, by postcards, email, or other creative ways (see 101 Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door, by Kathleen Gage) and let them know about your services (offer them $100 or more for each referral they send your way AND who stays with you for at leas 2-months of coaching)

8 ) newspaper, magazine, radio, tv advertising

9) pay-per-click and FaceBook advertising

10) send postcards to local and/or national businesses (buy targeted leads from lead-genration services; or if you are a member of your local Chamber of Commerce, you have access to all the members’ contact info; also you can ask your Chamber of Commerce – whether a member or not – how to find the contact info for the businesses you target; if you target individuals, buying a list of pre-qualified leads might be your best bet)

11. Cold Calling – you can buy a list of businesses or individuals who most likely match the description of your ideal client and start dialing…  It is probably the toughest lead-generation strategy, but also one of the most effective ones.  As my brother used to say ”You make 100 calls, you know you’ll sell one or two cars – it’s a numbers game…”  We all dislike getting calls with offers, but I know it happened to most of us that we “fell” for some of these offers or we were straight out excited about some of the offers we received through a cold call.  So, yes, we might hate it, but it is one of the greatest ways to find and get a discussion started face to face with your ideal client

12. Hire a virtual assistant to do a combination of the above lead generation methods.  (If you are not sure how to find a reputable virtual assistant, post a note below or contact me through LinkeIn - http://www.LinkedIn.com/in/egSebastian and I’ll send you a list of VAs – if I get contacted by many of you, I’ll create a post on this topic in the near future)

13. Hire a lead generation service – do a search on the term “lead generation services” and you’ll get a ton of results.  Make sure to check the http://www.bbbOnline.com site to learn more about your lead generation service – were there many complaints against them, did they resolve these complaints, etc. Also, find out if any of your friends (on FB, LinkedIn groups, Twitter, etc.) have successfully used a lead generation service.

The key is to collect these leads’ contact info and put them through the next stages of the lead generationprocess:

Stage2: Qualify Your Leads, and
Stage 3: Nurture Your Leads
Stage 4: Transform Your Leads into Prospects
Stage 5: Transform Your Prospects into Life-Long Customers

Till then, start putting together a Lead-Generation plan, put it on your planner (as recurring activities — I recommend Google Calendar so you can access it from anywhere at any time), and start implementing the above tips.

10 Signs Your Niche is the Root Cause of Your ProblemsYou’ve probably heard about the importance of having a clear niche. In fact, you might be tired of thinking about your niche. I get it.

Finding your niche can be one of the biggest challenges for many solopreneurs.

But having a clear niche is critical for your success. Here are some of the biggest benefits of a niche:

– It’s easier to become an expert, which allows you to gain more visibility and command higher fees
– You can focus your marketing to where your target market hangs out, which makes your marketing easier and more effective
– You can speak directly to what your target market is looking for, which means more sales
– It’s so much easier to get referrals because people know who you help and what you help them with
– You can build a targeted list of your raving fans
– You’ll attract more joint venture partners – people who serve the same target market but offer a complementary solution
– If you want to earn more leveraged income (one of my favorite things to help clients do:) you absolutely must have a clear niche. If you help everyone with everything, you don’t stand a chance of filling your programs or selling many products.

If you’re struggling to do any of those things – build a targeted list, sell your services, command higher fees, get more referral, attract joint venture partners, earn leveraged income – then I’m willing to bet that the lack of a clear niche is part of the problem.

So let’s do this. Let’s have a quick reality check to see if your niche (or lack thereof) is the root cause of your problems.

1. You don’t know what separates you from everyone else who does the same kind of thing
2. When you describe who you help you can only describe them in broad demographic terms, (e.g. boomer women, parents) or broad descriptions (e.g. people who are going through a transition, people who want to reduce their stress)
3. You don’t get referrals because people don’t know who you help or what you help them with
4. You want to earn leveraged income through programs (e.g. group coaching, membership program, home study programs) but because you help everyone with everything you don’t have enough people to sell them to
5. You take on clients who aren’t your favorite and don’t allow you to do your best work
6. You don’t know where your ideal clients hang out and how to reach them
7. Your list is small, not targeted and non-responsive. They don’t buy your programs or even sign up for your free stuff, like webinars and strategy sessions.
8. You struggle to write content for your website and blog
9. You can’t clearly and easily explain what you do
10. You’re investing a lot of time, energy and money but have nothing to show for it – no clients, no sales and no fun!

The more places your name shows up, the more impressed anyone will be when they’ll do a search on your name AND THE MORE LINKS POINT TO YOUR WEBSITE or blog, the higher you’ll be ranked by the search engines (your goal being to come up on the 1st page for your main key words — the more sites/blogs link to your page, the more a search-engine favorite you’ll become)

I suggest spending no more than 30 minutes a day – or twice a week – on this strategy. It is a credibility booster and a search engine strategy (ok, for this 2nd reason maybe you do want to spend a little time on it in the beginning). Usually you can take one of your blog posts, article, top 10 tips, etc. and share it on others’ blogs.

10 Tips to Creating a Business Card that Attracts Prospects and Clients

Let’s explore today something simple, yet a great prospect
attraction strategy. It is something that you can take action on today
and start seeing results in days from now. If you use this tool right,
it is up to your “conversion strategy” on how many of the prospects
you attract will convert into paying clients.

I’m sure by now you have a business card (and if you don’t, that’s
good for you, at least you can start with a great business card right from the start);
however, is your business card a piece of paper with your name and
other business info on it, or is it also a Client Magnet?

Here are some tips to creating great Client-Attraction Business Cards:

1. Do NOT print your own business card, unless you are a pro
2. Your business card is often a reflection of your
professionalism – make sure it screams “I’m a professional”
3. Print your business card on a harder stock (not soft paper
stock), and choose the semi-gloss option (or gloss)
4. Use a slogan on the top left, top right, or under your name
that is niche-related, such as “Your Conflict-Buster Coach”;
“Stress no more!”; “Life-Balance is Only a Call Away…”
5. People do business with people they know, like, and trust…
To accomplish part of this, make sure to put a picture on
your business card. Having a picture on your business card
accomplishes several things, one of the most important being
that people will remember you easier even months after you
met
6. Design the card in a way that your niche shows more prominently
than your name. You want the prospects eyes to see your niche
first, which ideally will start the discussion in the right direction
(as opposed to having your name out prominently and your niche
somewhere in small print – they’ll look for your name on the card
anyway, but not necessarily for additional information)
7. Don’t use a PO Box as your address (on your card or on your
website!). If possible, use instead a UPS store box address. Personally
I do not feel comfortable sharing with the world where
I live, so I use a “fancy” address, such as “330 Robert Smalls
Parkway, Suite 24” – sounds like I’m renting a cool office, when
in fact I’m only renting a $49/6-months box at the UPS store. (By the way,
the law says that you need to have your physical address on your
website – the UPS store address is an acceptable alternative).
8. Make sure your email address and phone # are on your business
card; and if you have an 800 number, put that there too, it makes
you look more like a real business.

I’ve been using them since ’04; they only charge for the minutes
used – my bill has never been higher than $20 and most often
it’s under $10)
9. DO NOT LEAVE UNUSED “REAL ESTATE” ON YOUR
CARD!!!
That is, don’t leave the back of the card blank! In fact, when used
properly, the back of your card can be one of your most
effective prospect attraction “tool.” Put your irresistible offer
on the back of your card. “Put Some Magic in Your Relationships!

10. Capitalize the first letter of each word in your domain names
whenever you put them on stationery or in your web copy.
For example, www.YourSuccessChecklists.com,
www.CommunicationSkillsMagic.com
– it is much easier to read and it stands out more.
